What is one thing you dream of having in your home? It could be something simple like a set up like this, or maybe a top floor room with tons of light and walls of books. What’s your idea of perfect?

Let me put this out there. I like pink. But, I don’t like pink in my decor/home. I wouldn’t paint walls pink, wouldn’t have pink accents. It’s just too girly for me. But just because I wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. For example, Nicole of Making it Lovely has pink all throughout her house. And her husband tolerates it! But she pulls it off fantastically. I just couldn’t do it.

With that preface in mind, today’s image is of a pink-filled living room.

This room pulls it off, totally. I don’t think a guy would hate this room, though I’m pretty certain it wouldn’t be his first choice. The pink is light enough that it’s not offending, and the stripes in the couch bring in a multitude of colors that modernize and warm up the space, drawing your eye away from the pink.

The purple and green accents are well played — speaking from experience, getting the proper balance of purple and green is hard, that is the color scheme in my place! (Until this weekend when the green walls go white again..) I also really like the clean, straight lines on everything here. The couch, the coffee table and end table, the chair — it just works!

I recently got sick of green, from having a full living room of it, and now that I’m moving, I’m going cool with greys and tans and blues, while the boyfriend and I just painted one of his walls almost the same shade of green I am getting rid of! What about you? What color do you like in a room but wouldn’t put in your own home?

Looking at my ‘lookbook’ of photos for inspiration, I notice one large theme: yellow. Almost all of the rooms that I love have shades of yellow in them. I think a pop of yellow is a great way to bring cheery color to a room, especially in apartments that don’t always have the best of light. It’s classic and modern at the same time, much like today’s daily dose:

First of all, I love the color of the walls. And the pattern on the chairs. And the accesories. Oh what the heck, I LOVE this room as a whole! I want everything in it, I’d even take the fireplace, and I am not a fireplace person! The simple elegance and modern style this room exudes is amazing, and it all comes together with finesse.

My only issue? The karate-chopped pillows. I have just never understood that. I tried it a couple times, but it just makes them jut out and stick straight up, much like in the photo, and they look… staged. Which, I suppose, works for staged photos, but in my home it just looks… WEIRD!

Do you like this room? What about yellow? What is your power color?

Because I am bogged down at work today, here is last week’s double feature to make up for yesterday and today. Terrible, I am, I know. :)

I am in a bit of a transitioning point where I’m not sure if I want a classic bedroom or a more modern bedroom, and I think these two photos depict exactly what I would love to call my own!

I love the simplicity of this room, but the details are amazing. The pop of green really helps take this room to the next level.

But I think I’m in love with this next bedroom more. It has a lot of the same features as the first one, the high gloss bed, the graphic black and white print and the punch of color — but it just seems more finished and I’m all for color on the walls!

What do you like in your bedrooms? Canopy beds or platform beds? One nightstand or two? Ceiling lights and table lamps? Fluffy rugs and carpet or sleek hardwoods?

Today’s image is taking us back a few years. Well, more than a few. While this style can definitely be pulled off modern-day, when one sees it, we definitely think the 70′s!

I love the punch of yellow, both indoor and out. And the scale of those lamps is crazy! While I might prefer something a BIT smaller than that, the lamp itself–despite it’s grandeur size–is awesomely graphic and definitely an eye catcher.

And those couches, yum! While I am more traditional, and prefer browns and tans (though my current couch is ‘brown’ it’s more purple than anything), the subtle look of those blue velvet couches is yummy. I love that the purchased two and backed them up to create a traditional reading/conversation area and a television/game area. Clever!

Overall, seeing this room makes me smile. What rooms have made you smile today? Perhaps one of your own?

Starting today, I am going to be posting a daily photo M-F showcasing something that I love!

Today’s image was inspired by my desire to have a seperate office space. While that isn’t going to happen any time soon, a girl can dream. :)

While I am not a huge fan of the chairs or the mirrored desk, that wallpaper is TO. DIE. FOR. I love it! The green accents work wonderfully in the space too. Maybe, subconciously, I like this for the green and purple, as that is the current color scheme in my apartment. (Not for much longer!)

See you tomorrow with another daily dose!
