Welcome Back from the Dead

Okay wow. I am totally unreliable in keeping my thoughts and ideas on here. I have so many cool ideas I’ve been wanting to do, but the boyfriend and I officially decided we were moving in together in June, so that kind of makes changing things up in my current place a bit, well, pointless. While I was gone, I painted the living room green:

Green walls

Excuse the Colonel. And all the CRAP everywhere. And the color looks better in daylight than with a flash.

I also finished an upholstered headboard:

And burned the fabric, but thankfully saved the day, by trying to iron on the ends:
Test in an inconspicuous area before applying heat..

What else? Oh, right — we picked a place to move into in June: (please ignore the furniture and dirty, white walls)

And just today, had our soon-to-be not-so-ugly bathroom featured on Apartment Therapy:

You can view the article here. While we don’t hate the marble, per say, we can’t stand the vanity and are hoping we can remove the mirror and put it back when we move out. We’re hoping for something square and simple, but we’ll see. We love the idea of turning it into a boutique hotel-spa bathroom with fluffy towels, pretty pictures, and warm tones and textures.

So over the next couple of months, as I get ready to pack up AGAIN (I just did this!), hopefully I’ll be slapping together some moodboards of our new space. We both love the clean lines of the mid-century modern-modest style* and punches of color, so we’ll see what we come up with. It should be interesting to see what happens when you get two stubborn designers (we’re both web designers) in a 950~ sq. foot townhouse.. Fun fun. Here’s hoping I’ll be popping up in your RSS Reader more often once we move and show you how we transform the space from blah to wow! Until then!

* I say mid-century modern-modest because while we both love some of the super classic pieces (the Eames lounger, the Womb chair…) we understand we have a limited budget. It’s all about picking a few key pieces that really WOW you, and filling it in with accessories that don’t break the bank!

    Welcome back! :-)
Can’t wait to see what you guys do with the new place!
(I’m also in a holding pattern–looking to move back into the District, so I don’t want to invest too much time into the current place!)
And I have to agree, that vanity and mirror are pretty horrible! Ack!

    Hi Monica!

I can’t wait to move into the new place! Having hardwoods (or laminates..) in the downstairs area is going to be great! Thanks for the compliments!

    Best,

    Laura
