Will I Ever Make a Decision?

So I have been using the boyfriend’s Galant Desk since I moved into this apartment at the end of August. It has worked wonderfully, but to be honest, isn’t my style. It has a corner piece and a rounded edge piece that just make it big. A bit too big for my tastes.

So I have been looking for months for a new desk, debating everything from several West Elm desks, to craigslist finds, and nothing — NOTHING — has fit the bill. Until now, I think.

Anna, from Door Sixteen, is amazing — if you aren’t familiar with her blog, I urge you to visit and enjoy the deliciousness that is her home. She has been working on her white office for awhile now, and I was truly inspired by this photo:

She uses an old drafting table that was her father’s, then I believe her’s in college, and it’s just awesome. It has so much personality to it. Sadly, I do not own a piece like this; however, I was thinking I could use the Lagan counter top from Ikea with the Vika Moliden legs that she uses to create something very similar.

What do you think? I could probably even distress the counter top a bit to give it more character! A few nicks and scratches, then a nice dark finish would really make it pop! Perhaps something like this (sorry for the small photo!):

distressed wood

I may make a trip to Ikea in the next few weeks to check it out. I’m excited now!
