Chuck --
Steer clear of greys and tans?! That's what I plan to paint my next place with! Well, the living area anyway. Shoot!

I have to say, your yellow dining room makes me want to sit there and blog all day. Maybe it's just your barstools. Or the bay window. ;)

xo,

Fast food chains are also a big fan of yellow. Looking to social color theory, yellow creates a nervous subconscious energy. While inviting, it makes you leave a space sooner than a neutral color. Makes sense for burger joints since they want to keep a steady flow of cash walking in and out their doors on a constant basis.

Supposedly every color carries its own mood. Red can make you feel well rested, but it also makes you want to snack. Green is a good color to use in conveying prosperity. Not just because it's the color of money either, it may have to do with it's relation to ample fields of grass. For whatever reason green is lush and can make you feel like you're well off. Steer clear of grays and tans! They can cause depression, especially when waking up to them.

Anyway, colors are super effective at setting a mood. I just painted my dining room in a "refreshing mimosa" -- yellow. Hopefully it keeps me from eating too much, in the dining room anyway! ;)

Kasey --

Haha, yea, dark grey can be a lovely moody color and light grey can be an airy tone to a room, but when I think power color, I normally think bold colors. Yellows, turquoise, fuchsia, etc. :) Grey is still a fantastic color! Or is it just a tone...? ;)

Best,

Yellow rocks! IYou're right, it is such a mood booster. I'm really loving grey right now, but I'm not sure anyone would call it a "power color" :).
