Office Space
While one day I would love to have an office that has it’s own room, I understand that living in apartments alone will not afford me the extra money, or the luxury, to do so. One day I’ll have a huge desk for my Macs, huge windows that let in lots of light and storage and organization out the wazoo. For now though, I’ll have to settle with a small desk and an eventual, and most definitely needed, filing cabinet.
Today I wanted to share some completely differing spaces. I will offer no explanation of the photos today, just bask in their glory and tell me — which is your favorite space, and why?

And if you’re curious what my current set up looks like, I can tell you right now, I really need a new desk:

Please, ignore the mess — like I said, I’m in the process of moving, and I just sold my Fredrik desk an hour ago… Now I really need a new desk!! Oh, and say goodbye to my green walls back there in the background. I’ve been left with ugly white walls — but more on that coming up later this week!
So tell me, what’s your setup like? Do you have a fancy-schmancy office room, a laptop table, or perhaps it’s just your lap?

Hey Laura!
Well, I’m kinda in transitions mode with my home office setup. I’ve always liked the “L-Shaped” desk since I was a kid. I always though it was cool to have two sections to my desk that I could switch back and forth from. Now, I’m beginning to feel like I should just get a regular desk (hopefully for a new MacBook Pro) and completely get rid of the L-Shaped space-hog.
Actually what’s funny about this is that while I’m writing this comment, I am using a card table for a desk in my living room while I clean up my office. But yeah that’s my setup (for now.)
LOVE the 2nd one! Where is the pic from?
I have an office/guest room with a good-sized desk, but honestly I rarely use it! I’d rather tote my laptop around the house and use it on my lap. :)

I enjoy the l-shaped set up as well, and perhaps one day if I have a full blown office, I will have that. An area for working on the computer and an area for paying bills, etc. Space constraints keep me from even looking at the larger desks out there, for now though!

The photo is from decorpad, the link goes to this page: http://www.decorpad.com/photo.htm?photoId=16908 but there doesn’t seem to be anymore information other than that on it. :)
Best,
Laura
I love the second picture! The zebra rug paired with the polka dot window seat is just beautiful. And the clean lines of the white desk are great.
My problem is that depending on the day my answer might be different. I like the first in white, but today my favorite is the third labeled Addendum because its has very clean lines, but it’s also warm and natural. It looks like the furnishings are mid century so you know they stand the test of time and are still modern.

I hadn’t even seen the window seat in the background — thanks for pointing it out! :) I just love the boldness of the space!

I agree, my answer tends to change. I would love to have a biiiig open space, but then the fifth picture also piques my interest.
Best,
Laura
I really like the 3rd photo. The wide-open space with the book shelves. I can appreciate the mix of old tech (manual writing, presses, etc.) with new tech (sleek Mac-ness). A couch in the office is always nice to have too – if not for a friend, then for me when I need to nap! Honestly, I’m more impressed with the form and function of the room than the “look.” It needs more color. Do you agree? What would you improve upon?
Oh yeah – just one more thing. I’d totally trade the chair in the 3rd photo for the chair in the 4th. I sit in one of those at work and it’s niiiice. ;)
I like the one with the window and the library and a small sofa, as that is how I would picture and ideal office for me, even though with some different pieces of furniture. But so far I am stuck with a table in the kitchen, and will probably always live in flats, so I donĀ“t know…
I adore the second one. There’s plenty of natural light, but the computer screen doesn’t look like it’s likely to get blinded by the sun (some of the other pics look like that might be a problem). I also just love the lightness and cleanness of it…I’m SO easily distracted – if I have clutter around me, I find it hard to work (and unfortunately, I far too often have clutter around me!).
I am looking for the perfect desk right now so I know what you mean. Those spaces are very inspirational.
