Bemz and Marimekko Unite

by Laura on May 28th, 2009

If you have any upholstered Ikea furniture (Ektorp, Karlstad, Klippan, Mysinge, etc) and you love bold punches of color in your living room, then you’ll love the Marimekko slipcover collection that just launched this morning over at bemz.com.

I love the ornate but subdued pattern created by the choice of colors. The others are a bit bold for my tastes, as I get easily bored with things and do not want to end up HATING something because it’s screaming at me everyday when I wake up or walk in the door.

One more fun and elegant example that I am in LOVE with is the Henrik dining chairs with the grey Fandango cover. I am tempted to go out and buy new dining chairs (which I need, really) and reupholster with this fabric. Add that to my wishlist!

The only thing that bothers me about the release of these is that the upholstered covers cost just as much as the furniture does! For example, all of the loveseat covers for the Ektorp series (shown above) are $465. Ouch! The dining chair upholstery is only about 60 bucks, which isn’t horrible — I equate it to be the equivilent to buying double the furniture. ;) But if you have the money to drop and you are dying for a pop! in your place, these covers would be a great addition to your home and a definite conversation starter!
